The murder of a soldier at Kasoa has been reported by multiple media outlets with a video of the incident having gone viral on social media platforms, X and Facebook.

The incident is said to have happened specifically at Kasoa Millennium City.

The deceased was shot at and killed on the spot over a land issue that the police in the area was already seized with.

New details have emerged over the circumstances leading to the shooting and the assailant involved.

Here are some new details GhanaWeb has come across:

Two other soldiers survived the shooting

Two other colleagues were involved in the incident. They were reportedly in the car during the gun attack but survived.

Their whereabouts remain unknown.

Shot by a sub-chief alleged to be a landguard

Adom News reports that the trio were shot at by an alleged land guard, who is also identified as a sub-chief.

The bullet struck the soldier who was in the driver’s seat.

A video shared on social media showed the officer slumped in his seat with the car stuck in a ditch, ostensibly after the driver lost control.

The rear glass is shattered, and blood is oozing from the head region of the deceased.

The car is left on an abandoned stretch, with the two other officers nowhere in sight.

Police seized with the matter

The Adom News report stated that the officers were on their way to escalate a report they had made to the Millennium City Police at the Central East Command regarding the land issue when they were shot at by the land guard.

Kofi Asmah, the owner of 21st Century Construction Company, who sold the land in question, has accused the police at Millennium City of failing to effectively address the situation due to alleged corruption within their ranks, the Adom FM report added.

At the time of filing this report, neither the Ghana Police Service nor the Ghana Armed Forces have released an official statement regarding the incident.

Social media users have been reacting to the report with fear on one hand and mockery on the other.
